      Baltic Way Commemoration
Join us at Elizabeth Park (next to the Pond Cafe) in Hartford, CT for an afternoon of celebrations to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the Baltic Way.
Taking place on August 23, 1989, the Baltic Way was a massively successful peaceful protest and is known as the longest “human chain” in history. Two million people held hands across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia to protest Soviet occupation. Lithuania declared independence from the Soviet Union less than seven months later, with Latvia and Estonia doing the same shortly thereafter.
